Against the odds: Sanibel lighthouse one day after Milton: still there
Here’s a brief Saturday afternoon update. We are gradually regaining some sense of normalcy.
Many shops and restaurants reopened or will reopen shortly.
As mentioned in previous updates, Cape Coral was not severely affected. There were no significant floods, or very few. There were also very few wind-related damages.
Almost all Seabim vacation homes have only minor damage in the exterior areas. With one exception, we are not aware of any damage inside the houses.
Regarding roofs and docks, it is still too early for an accurate assessment. However, it also appears that there was little to no damage in these areas. This will only be confirmed in the coming days.
All Seabim vacation homes are habitable.
Most guests who were evacuated before Milton’s arrival have now returned to their vacation homes. Welcome back!
There are still some isolated power and internet issues, but most Seabim vacation homes have power again.
Outages: As of noon on Saturday, fewer than 10,000 LCEC customers are still without power (down from more than 80,000 on Thursday). Well done linemen!
Currently, we see no or only minimal restrictions for guests arriving from October 14, 2024.
