A few updates from hurricane Milton and the impact on Lee County (incl. Cape Coral) gathered from local tv stations. These information are NOT verified yet by our team!

Water: It seems that the flooding was not as severe as feared. Water levels were reportedly significantly lower than they were during Hurricane Ian in 2022. However, the water levels were likely higher than during Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago. Accordingly, we are optimistic that Cape Coral and the surrounding areas, and thus also the Seabim vacation homes, have not received as much flooding and that the damage is less severe (no Seabim house has been checked on yet). However, this is only an initial and general assessment that has not been verified by the Seabim team on-site.

Wind / Wind Damage: This is currently difficult to assess. However, the general wind strengths were not as high as, for example, during Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Power Outages: Currently, there are about 80,000 LCEC households without power in Cape Coral (no numbers for FPL). The whole State of Florida has more than 3,000,000 power outages at the moment.

Tornados: There have been many tornado warnings before and during the hurricane. Much more than we had with past hurricanes.

There is no contact with the Seabim team in Florida. On one hand, it is the middle of the night there, on the other hand, it is also possible that there is no power.

We will try to respond as quickly as possible, but given the circumstances, it may take some time. We understand that guests who plan to arrive in the next 1-2 weeks urgently need information. As mentioned at the beginning, Cape Coral and the surrounding areas do not seem to be as severely affected, so we are currently cautiously optimistic. As soon as we get new information, we will publish them on our channels.
