It has now been a little over 24 hours since Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida. We are very grateful that, unlike in 2022, the damage in Cape Coral is very minimal. For the most part, it consists of fallen trees, branches on the roads, and downed power lines. Our Seabim vacation homes have also come through relatively unscathed, with very little damage. This is great news for us. On the other hand, we are thinking of the people further north, such as in Siesta Key, Tampa, and Sarasota. We know from our own experience what those people are currently going through. However, it is worth not giving up and enduring, even though it will be very difficult for many months ahead. There will be a lot of work, little income, and everything is moving too slowly. We wish all those people the best of luck and perseverance. You will get through this, but it will take time.

Back to Cape Coral and the Seabim houses. We have been able to visit some of our homes already. The remaining houses will be inspected today. Generally speaking, we can state that there seems to be no flooding in any of the homes, and the damage outside is quite limited. Mostly, there are only minor damages. We assume that there also has been little to no damage inside the homes.

The biggest issues right now are the lack of electricity in many houses and lost internet connections.

We have already contacted and informed all guests arriving within the next 7 days. We encourage all travelers arriving in the next 2-3 weeks to reach out to us as well, although the response time may be unusually long. However, almost all vacationers can expect that electricity will gradually become available again in the coming days (though we cannot guarantee). And there will be little to no damage to the houses. If there is any, we will reach out to each guest individually.
